Published! 25 Oct 2025  Cue the rousing music... and a Mega icon is born! Maybe you saw the icon appear on the map at 9am and you've already posted your Will Attend or you will soon. Maybe you've started planning your trip. Well, make sure you give yourself plenty of time around the Mega event weekend as we have more surprises coming, and you'll have plenty of geocaching fun and activities to keep you entertained. This is going to be a great event for sure! Website launched 21 Oct 2025  The event website is launched in readiness for the cache page to go live on geocaching.com in four days time, on the 25th of October. We are still working on planning the event, but details will be added to the website as they are firmed up. We also created a Top of the South 2026 facebook group as a great place to go to interact with the team and other event attendees. 2026 will also be Amazing! 15 Aug 2025  The GPS Adventures Maze Exhibit that debuted at the Rotorua Block Party will be crossing the Cook Strait and making its first appearance in the South Island. So if you rushed through it in Rotorua, fear not, as you will have another chance to have a closer look in Nelson, and be on the lookout for some new material, and a whole new Adventure Lab through the maze. The GPS Adventures Maze is a very rare cache type, so if you're keen to visit a really interesting GPS and geocaching exhibit, and also get this rare geocache icon on your profile, make sure you have the Top of the South Cachefest 2026 in your diary! It's Great to be Mega! 13 Aug 2025  The number 13 might be unlucky for some, but Wednesday the 13th of August was Mega lucky for New Zealand and we are pleased to announce that our application to launch the Top of the South Cachefest 2026 event as a Mega Event has been approved by Groundspeak. When it is published, in October 2025, it will straight away receive that glistening Mega icon, the only one of its type in New Zealand for 2026.
