| | NEWS Venue Confirmed! 08 Aug 2025  After a lot of behind the scenes work, we can announce that the venue for the Top of the South Cachefest 2026 Mega Event event will be the Hope Recreation Hall in the Hope Recreation Reserve on the southern outskirts of Richmond. This venue has a couple of impressively large open spaces to hold our event and a quiz night. While the main Mega event will take place on Sunday 25th of October, we will have the venue open with activities taking place over the whole of Saturday and Sunday. Planning Commences! 03 Aug 2025  At a Community Celebration Event held in Richmond and hosted by Funkymunkyzone and Jägersmum, the Top of the South geocaching community came together to celebrate the great game of geocaching and to throw around some ideas and aspirations, and start planning the 2026 Mega Event. It was a great initial session and the result is that we are more sure than ever that this is going to be an event certainly not to be missed! Announcement at the Block Party 04 May 2025  On the 4th of May at the end of the very successful "25 Years of Geocaching NZ" Block Party in Rotorua, it was announced that the next mega event in New Zealand would take place in Nelson, in the heart of the "Top of the South" and the centre of New Zealand. The region is one of the most diverse in New Zealand, with golden beaches and turqoise waters, to snow capped mountains and crystal clear lakes, and that's not even getting to rugged islands and sounds.
